Exploring the sun

How can we find out where the sun goes?

"We could ask a Scientist", said James.
"We could look on the internet", said Jordan.
"We could watch a TV programme", said Oska.
"We could watch the news", said Ilyssa.
"We could read a book about space", said Dominic.
"We could look in the newspaper", said Katie.

Miss Maxwell read a book full of facts about the sun but it didn't tell us anything about where the sun goes at night.

We then looked on the internet to watch how the Earth moves around the sun. Click on the picture below to watch the sun (set time to a month).

We then went outside with chalk and drew a sun on the ground and pretended we were the Earth orbiting around it.

So what did we learn about the sun?

"The sun doesn't go anywhere! it stays still in space", said Mohamed.
"The Earth spins around the sun", said Jordan.
"The sun is made of hot gas", said Oska.
